Daily Acitvities
- Walk your dog: Type your location in the search box to find places to walk in your area.
- Go to the Dog Park: Ponderay has a fenced dog park, or try Dog Beach in Sandpoint. There is a park in Stateline and hopefully one in Coeur d’Alene soon! Click on the link to see a list of dog parks in your area.
- Visit the shelter dogs: The quality of life for these dogs is greatly impacted by volunteers. Click on the Rescues button at the top of the page to find a Rescue in your area.
Weekly Activities
- Sheep herding: Have a herding breed? Have a mixed breed? It doesn’t matter, just about any dog can learn to herd. Contact Randy if your in the Sandpoint area (208) 263-4633 or Norm Close if your in the Coeur d’Alene area (208) 665-1670.
- Search and Rescue: Every dog that has a nose can participate in Search and Rescue. Check out the Dog Groups list in the right hand column to find a Search and Rescue group in your area.
- Obedience Classes: There isn’t a dog on the planet that wouldn’t benefit from an obedience class. Classes these days have changed too – they include smiling, laughing, jokes, and aren’t just tight lipped dog trainers making you look stupid!

Dog Fun has sprouted out of a desire to help dog people in North Idaho get connected. I moved here in 2008 with my husband and border collie and am still hearing about dog things that go on that I had no idea about! This is my solution to helping everyone who is interested in dog events, ways to get involved with their dogs, and staying informed.
Please browse through the blogs and leave any comments. There is information on trails/hikes, herding, pulling, training, etc. so feel free to use the the search option. This is designed to be a communal site for dog lovers.
Here’s a video I think we’ll all enjoy!

What a great idea for a great blog in North Idaho!
I can’t divulge too much info now but there are plans in the works with the city and several sponsors for a great dog event coming this summer! More to come later…
Great resource… thanks. And my Dog Bo appreciated to to
Awesome site, well made and a great resource for all!
I found your resource via Google on Monday while searching for dog problems and your post regarding North Idaho Dog Fun looked very interesting to me. I just wanted to write to say that you have a great site and a wonderful resource for all to share.
Thank you! Maybe I’ll see about figuring out how to get a forum up so people can post their problems and have others reply. If its a dog training question I would recommend going to the community forums of MySmartPuppy.com where professionals answer dog training questions. Glad your enjoying the site!
What a awesome find! I’m glad I found this North Idaho Dog Fun blog.
Great topic on training dogs. Just got done with my email, now able to get on the web, finally.
Molly – really nice job – the word’s getting out! Dog lovers love a community of dogs!
Hey – Molly – any chance we can do a section that allows people to “volunteer” for dog activities? Pan handle walking- Pawsitive Works transportation/class help? Event assistance?
Thats a neat idea – I think it might end up as a “Get Involved” page… or maybe I’ll find a plugin that can do that… We’ll see!
I was wondering how we can get added to your breeders list or groomers? I dont see anywhere on your site to request to be added.
Just send me an email. I’ll go ahead and add you
Thanks for letting us know about you!
What a great site. Found it through Facebook. I have a couple of sites that you might be interested in. I have a Nationally Certified Search Dog (who also does a lot of community PR’s) and we are members of two local search teams that are not on your site. I also volunteer with a local rescue. Please email me if you are interested in listing these groups as well.
Great site! Thanks for doing this for the doggies.
Love this site!! Lots of great information. I just found a trainer in Spokane for puppy agility and fun agility for the older dogs e-mail me for more info..Also looking for a site to find suitable homes for a litter of Boxer puppies. I am not a breeder but Craigs list doesn’t work and I need them to go and get mama spayed..
I don’t ever comment on these, but I love this page. The only that I’m a little bummed about is that Spokane isn’t included since its so close, and that’s where I live. I love the fact that you have doggie sitter’s.
Great idea and great dog training links! My husband and I are still mulling over moving to Sandpoint and leaving California. We just have to get used to the thought of snow.
Molly-
I want to have Bernese Mountain Dog Club in Sandpoint…… any Berner owners interested? Jeanie
I think that’s a great idea! E-mail me what you would like to do with the club and I can put together a post. We could even make a section on this site for the the club or make a new site for it. Are there any breeders or rescues for Berners in the area? It would be fun to see some carting too…
I would like to start a AKC Labrador Retriever Club in No. Idaho (Sandpoint/CDA/Spokane). Is there anyone interested? Write to labradors@qnet.com
Just wanted to know how I could be added to your website. I am a professional pet sitter for 5 years now. I own Home Sweet Home Pet Sitting, I am also a certified veterinary technician who is also in training to become a police officer. If you would add me that would be great
Heather 208-819-3878 thank you & great website
